Peaks and Ridges in the Lofoten Islands
The tiny archipelago of Lofoten - situated off Norway's west coast beyond the Arctic Circle - is little known but offers world class walking in an area with dramatic steep sided mountains and few trails. From our cottage based in Ballstad, a working
fishing village, we have the opportunity to climb some of Lofoten's finest peaks.
There are few paths and some of the terrain is steep and occasionally exposed, so you will need previous walking experience off trail and a good head for heights. We will walk for 6-8 hours each day, with one shorter walk coupled with a visit to the Viking Museum. The rewards from the tops are magnificent views of Lofoten's scattered peaks against a backdrop of the emerald waters of the Norwegian Sea.
