Treks and Climbs in the Cordillera Blanca

A great trek and two amazing alpine climbs!

The classic Santa Cruz trek which crosses two high passes through the spine of the Andes is one of the finest high mountain treks in the world. Well acclimatised now we are ready for a challenging climax as we attempt the trekkers’ alpine summits of Ishinca (5530m) and Pisco (5752m).

The classic Santa Cruz trek goes into the heart of the Cordillera Blanca and close to its most spectacular alpine peaks. We soar with the condors as we cross two high passes, the Punta Union (4750m) and then Punta Portachuelo (4767m), no more than a notch in a rocky ridge, revealing Huascaran, the highest peak in Peru. Our first objective, Pisco, is nearby - the ascent is never steep and is on snow from just above our high camp.

We move on now to the beautiful Ishinca valley and from a fine base camp attempt the south-west ridge if Ishinca.. The route meanders up straightforward snow slopes to the slightly steeper summit. A big mountain, great views and a stunning climax to the trip.

Optional extension to climb Tocllaraju (6032m) - add 3 days.
See detailed itinerary for more information.
