Atacama 6000
20,000 feet without the crowds! Our exciting high altitude expedition among the isolated volcanoes of the Atacama desert, northern Chile.
An acclimatisation trek traverses a dazzling surreal landscape saltpans, geysers, hot springs, lagoons and pink flamingos. Our first volcano, is the active Lascar (5630m) which we hope to catch on a quiet day before moving north to the remote Volcan San Pedro (6145m, 20,155ft).
High base camps on both volcanoes can be reached by 4WD, the ascents are mainly snow free and with the normally stable weather pattern combined with good fitness and determination, the summits are quite manageable.
